#Break the Bias

We embraced International Women's Day 2022 campaign theme - #BreakTheBias.

We started with a reading about the campaign message i.e.

Imagine a gender-equal world.

A world that was free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.

A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

Together we can forge women's equality.

Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.

After reading about this campaign, my middle school students expressed an interest and were quite motivated to participate in the campaign, get involved, and make a difference in the world. They were ready to be individually accountable for their own thoughts and actions - all day, every day - to break the bias in their communities, in and out of school, and on International Women's Day (IWD) and beyond.

They crossed their arms in solidarity and shared their images, articles, and message with a promise on selfie cards in school with their peers and teachers and on social media to encourage more people to commit to assisting in creating a more inclusive world.
