Civilization is the stage of human social and cultural development and organization that is considered most advanced. What would one do if they had been given omniscient and omnipotent powers to create a civilization using all the knowledge that they have today? They would create a civilization using the Design Thinking factors i.e. Empathise, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test; which would last for millennia! And that’s just what our Grade 6 History students did.
The students worked in groups to create their own civilization considering the following parameters – Name of the Civilization, Natural Boundaries and Territories, Social Structure, Government and Laws, Religion, Ideology, Ethics, Morality, System of Communication and Language, Economics, Arts, literature, Customs, Traditions and Contributions.
They were asked to have both written work and sensory tie in. The sensory tie in was allowed in any format - (poster, PowerPoint, PREZI, video, play, dance, animation, song, game, computer simulation, painting, demonstration, etc.)
