Embracing Russian Culture & Tradition

Updated: Nov 23, 2021

Russia is the largest country in the world by area and spans Europe and Asia from west to east. Because Russia encompasses so much land, it also exhibits great geographical and ethnic diversity. Though generalizations about Russian culture can be made, the size and diversity of the country allow regions in Russia to maintain specific cultural elements that aren't typical of other areas. Russian culture has a long and rich cultural history, steeped in literature, ballet, painting and classical music. Russia has a very visual cultural past, from its colourful folk costumes to its ornate religious symbols.

While studying Russian Geography in grade 8, we taught of embracing some elements of its culture and tradition and have fun during the lockdown lesson in our own places. Grade 8 students baked Russian Bread and Russian Pancake. They also made Easter Eggs [Pysanky] and Maslenitsa Doll.
