Snakes & Ladders or Monopoly?

Playing board games is a form of mental exercise. Board games engage the brain areas involved in memory formation and complex mental processes, and the development of critical cognitive abilities like decision-making, higher-level strategic thinking, and problem-solving. Winning necessitates planning and perseverance. These skills are acquired in a stress-free, rigorous, but enjoyable setting.

Grade 8 students designed board games based on History's most significant event, the Revolutionary War. Students gained a better understanding of the individuals and events of the American Revolution, gained an experience of how important events such as the Revolution is interpreted differently by different people and gained an understanding of the problems inherent in game development.
