Weather Interactives

Updated: Nov 23, 2021

Postcards proved an easy and fun way for increasing student’s participation in classroom activity and learning. Grade 7 students made a postcard from a holiday destination in the abroad. They described what the climate is in their location normally and later compared that to the weather on the day they are writing the postcard and over the course of their holiday. They also explained why the weather may have influenced the type of activities they could do on holiday and also shared unusual weather experienced they might have encountered.

The nature of the weather instrument flipbook created interest in grade 7 students because of the engaging format. It brought the creation of a “book” to a new level and allowed them to do some cutting to create the flaps. Each page was a fun surprise for them. Flipbooks were truly the best of both worlds since they were both interactive and hands-on, and required minimal cutting and glueing. For grade 7 who are tactile and/or visual, the flipbook gave them an extraordinarily organized way to study material. The tabs allow them to see what is on each page without the frustration of searching.
